First of all, it should be noted that how-tos should be treated like recipes. HowTo's provide a guide that you can use to work your way through a task.
In contrast to cooking recipes, all information must be observed with a sense of proportion, which means that something may have changed or I may have forgotten something.
A few ground rules:
First read the whole recipe and try to understand
If you have any questions or need further information, there is nothing to stop you from doing an internet search
In search engines, hits can also be limited to a certain period of time, hits from the last millennium are not very helpful
Google is not the only search engine,
DuckDuckGo does not track and the number of advertising links is significantly lower
I try to keep everything up to date here but am limited in my time. Reading elsewhere also helps
I can't stress this enough, reading installation and configuration manuals is not optional, it's mandatory.
Anyone using a search engine is well advised to note when an article was written. Instructions from the last decade are often outdated.
As a first step, I recommend narrowing the search results to the last year and only delving further into the dawn of computing when necessary.
